Principal Functions:
- Software programming, with specific responsibilities in database design/querying;
- Offer support to staff/customers on configuration and use of MSSQL and other database applications.
Essential Requirements:
- Good experience of programming languages (especially C/C++) and source control systems;
- Good experience of SQL;
- Good experience of MSSQL 2005/2008 database configuration and use;
- Experience of configuration and use of other SQL databases (ideally one or more of MySQL, SqLite, PostGreSQL, Oracle);
- Experience of working with web-based database access tools and languages, such as PHP and ASP.NET;
- Experience of designing and optimising SQL queries for fast lookups of information;
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems (XP and above);
- Good communication skills;
- The ability to adapt to the changing needs of a project;
- The ability to work within a team environment;
- The ability to prioritise work with tight timescales;
Desirable:
- Experience with networking and communications protocols;
- Experience with use of back office (BOF) systems;
