The Jet ANPR Recocnition Engine is the core of any system and is the component that locates a plate on a vehicle, reads it and then interprets the plate into a character string.
CitySync wrote the Jet Engine in the UK and own the IPR. Most ANPR users acknowledge that the Jet Engine is the best Recognition Engine available.
The recognition process can be split into five parts:
- Plate Location and identification
- Plate De-Skewing and normalisation
- Character segmentation
- Optical Character Recognition
- Syntax Checking
In addition powerful filtering techniques are then used to minimise mis-reads and give high accuracy.
After all this, a plate tracer starts up to monitor the plate as it crosses the field of view taking many more image grabs to give a final highy accurate result.
The Engine is fully parameter driven and such settings as the number of frame grabs used to make a decision on the plate may be set. The Engine is available as a DLL with comprehensive SDK containing ten worked examples - or fuly integrated into one of the Jet Application programs.
