What is an I/O Card?
The Jet System can open automatic barriers, control red / green traffic lights or display messages on large external LED displays.
These LED signs are controlled from the PC using the serial port - but barriers and traffic lights have to be controlled by a special circuit board - a digital Input / Output card.
CitySync supply a range of cards which suit different computers (slot types available etc) - or the number of outputs required. These cards are termed "digital" because they contain small relays and will close or open a contact for a pre-determined length of time.
In JetBase, the user may set this pulse time from a few milliseconds up to many minutes.
Normally a 200ms pulse time is used to open a barrier - and 7000 ms (7 seconds) for a traffic light to stay on warning the driver or the guard that a vehicle has been rejected.
