Police use 'RoadRunner®' to deploy and check number plates within 1 minute.

CitySync, the leading UK and International provider of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR / ALPR), have signed contracts to supply RoadRunners to UK and European Police Forces.

The Jet RoadRunner is a robust, mobile ANPR System that can read number plates from up to four lanes of fast moving traffic (up to motorway speed) simultaneously. Additionally it can be configured to run two ANPR cameras and two colour overview cameras to capture the image of the vehicles as they pass by.

The system is quick and easy to set-up and will read plates from passing vehicles and match them against up to 64 hot lists of any size creating on-screen and audible alerts if a target vehicle is identified.

The Jet RoadRunner has been designed to be rugged and functional. It runs at 12v DC and can be powered from a cigarette lighter in a vehicle. Housed in a small rugged case, it features a super bright screen that provides clear images in outdoor light. The custom keyboard is built into the waterproof casing, behind which sits a powerful Pentium® processor and generous hard drive. The Jet RoadRunner communicates using GPRS wireless communication.

The target users include Police, Customs, Border Control and other government and non-government agencies wanting to trace specific vehicles. Other applications include: traffic monitoring and surveys, Civil Enforcement and temporary ANPR installations.

Lawson Noble, CitySync's Chief Technical Officer stated 'The RoadRunner's rapid deployment ability when combined with the Jet ANPR Engine means that a user in a vehicle can simply plug in and switch on. RoadRunner is up and running within one minute and Jet's ability to read plates at angles of up to 30 degrees means that there is hardly any time wasted positioning cameras a problem with some of the older ANPR systems.
